Here is a nice article from a person describing the various open source applications he uses on his Windows XP machine.

Interestingly, the idea of porting open source software to Windows is relatively controversial in the Linux community. Some people believe porting such applications to Windows gives users an excuse to continue running Windows rather than moving to Linux. Others believe, as does the author of the above article, that porting these applications to Windows eases the eventual transition of Windows users to Linux. I tend to agree much more with this latter view. More on that for another day, however.
