Richard Stallman on Software Patents

February 15, 2005 – 9:57 pm

Richard Stallment (president of the Free Software Foundation) wrote an article for CNET today in which he describes his view on software patents in general. Mr. Stallman’s article is in response to Bill Gates’ continual push for proprietary standards that specifically aim at excluding free and open source software from the marketplace. Mr. Stallman is one of the most vocal and well-educated advocates of the free software movement. Definitely worth a read if you have the time and interest.

  2. Yeah well, Stallman is just…a big doodoo head. Take that “Free Software Foundation.” Free software? Isn’t that an oxymoron?
Well I better get back to reading every blog and commenting on the anti-microsoft things. That’s what I do now that I’m not technically in charge of Microsoft anymore.
