Dinner and Linux News

March 9, 2005 – 11:01 pm

I must admit I am quite proud of myself, because I managed to make dinner for Ariele and I all by myself. (And without the use of a grill!) She is preparing for her candidacy exam, so I offered to make dinner so she could continue working, and (granted, she gave me some pretty explicit instructions) I was able to put together some broiled tofu (with Montreal chicken seasoning); a brussel sprout, garlic, and onion medley; and a potato-based stir fry (the stir fry was of the Trader Joe’s frozen variety). All in all, I was quite impressed with myself. The first time I have prepared a complete vegetarian meal, and I can honestly say I’m looking forward to leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

On a completely unrelated topic, today was a better than average day on the Linux news front. I first read an interesting article relaying one man’s view of how Firefox may rot from the inside out and die a horrible death before mounting a true charge against Internet Explorer. I also read an article about the significance of the next version of Windows (code named Longhorn) in regards to Microsoft’s ability to fend off Linux in the coming years.

And, finally, Kristjan found the thread on Fark I was talking about regarding text-based web browsers. The specific quote was “MY LYNX ON MY OS/2 R0X0RZ”. You can search for it here.
