Plainly and Simply Evil

I read this article today about the man, Jerry Hobbs, who admitted killing his eight year old daughter Laura and her nine year old friend Krystal. Here is an excerpt from the article:

In his statement, Hobbs said that after an argument ensued, he punched his daughter and her friend, then stabbed them, Pavletic said.

Laura was stabbed 20 times, including once in each eye, and Krystal was stabbed 11 times, he said.

Pavletic said Hobbs told investigators that Krystal tried to defend his daughter with a 4- to 6-inch knife and that he took it away from her during the fight and stabbed them.

Whether this guy should be put to death, locked in prison for the duration of his life, or suffer some other punishment is up to your morality and/or politics, but it’s pretty clear this guy has forfeited any right he has to continue to exist in our society. Plainly and simply evil.

  2. What was a 9 year old girl doing with a 4-6 inch knife? And yes, this guy should rot in prison for a long long time.

  3. I thought the same thing about the little girl and the knife. Supposedly the two girls were riding their bikes in the park. You would think the knife must have been given to her for some particular reason, because I can’t think of too many nine year old girls seeking out a knife that large on their own.

Regardless (and I know you’re not trying to defend anybody or cast the situation any differently than it is), how hard is it to take a knife away from a nine year old girl? He punches them, takes the knife, and stabs them both? I know a few full grown guys he can try that trick on; I’d be interested to see how long he lasts against one of them.

  4. I wonder if he feels any remorse. Maybe not, this guy is clearly a self-serving sociopath. A lynch-mob is in order.

  5. I find it horrible to know that these type of people live in our world. I wish there was a way to locate them before they commit such a terrible crime. Our young people are simply the most valuable asset we have and this man does not deserve to live in my world. Make him sit for awhile contemplating his own death them put him down.

  6. Very Minority Report ish. Jeff I agree with you that a knife could easily be taken away from a 9 year old girl (or at least most 9 year old girls, don’t want to sound like a chauvinist!) so why would you send her out with one? Weird.
