The Nike Run

Ariele rounded up quite a crew (of which I was a member) to go to this evening’s Nike run, and I have declared it an unequivocal success. Ariele, Bert, and Mike ran in the nine to nine and a half minute per mile pace group for a total of three miles, while Greg, Heather, and I joined the walking group for the same three mile route. Waiting at the end was free food and free beer (two free beers for me, since Ariele isn’t such a fan). Not a bad deal at all. Add in Ariele’s win of a raffled Nike running hat and water bottle, and we had quite a haul.

Greg and I decided to act tough and ran it in from a little over a mile out. I have to be honest that the couple of red lights we hit on the way back were real life savers for me. But, we decided that we’re going to try to run in the eleven to eleven and a half minute per mile pace group for three miles at next week’s Nike run. It may not be pretty. At all.
