Another Nike Run Success
June 20, 2005 – 11:50 pmAnother installment of the Nike run series took place this evening, and I again was able to successfully complete the three mile run in the eleven to eleven and a half minute per mile pace group. In fact, I was feeling good enough near the end of the run that I beat the rest of the group back to the starting area (where the three and five mile routes finish).
The last installment of this particular series is next Monday night, but I will be in Texas for Bobby’s wedding at that point. A new series of Nike runs starts in either late July or early August, and I imagine I will be running with either the ten or nine minute pace groups by then. It’s a goal, if nothing else.
I invested in some running shoes and inserts on Saturday to alleviate the pain in my legs resulting from running in my cross-trainers (which I do when I’m not running at the Nike runs). I tried a new pair of shoes tonight at the run, and this pair, like the pair last week, did a tremendous job with my lower legs (and my knees, most importantly). I will run in my new shoes while I’m away and until the next series of Nike runs begin. I’m quite confident the new pair will do as good, if not better, than the shoes I’ve been trying at the Monday night runs.
When are the Olympic trials again?
