It’s Just Diddy
August 18, 2005 – 10:59 amStop the presses! Sean Combs, formerly known as “Puff Daddy”, “Puff”, and “Puffy”, and currently known as “P. Diddy”, has decided to drop the “P.” and become just “Diddy”. The reason? I’ll let Puffy explain in his own words.
We had to move the P. We had to simplify it. Diddy is more personal. We are entering into the age of Diddy. It’s a new era.
Are you kidding me? Is this not the canonical example of taking oneself too seriously? In other news, I’m dropping the “J” from the beginning of my name. It’s now just “Eff”. The “J” was getting in the way, and my peeps just didn’t like it. Welcome to the age of “Eff”.

Hilarious. You gotta love P. Diddy! I mean Diddy of course. This is all a game to keep his name in the press and people talking about him. Mission accomplished.

If I ever start referring to myself in the third person, I kindly ask that you shoot me through the head.

It’s one thing for Adam to refer to himself in the third person, to do so is simply an eccentricity. It’s something entirely different if Adam starts to change his name every few years to keep “up-to-date” (???). Should Adam meet “Diddy” he intends to say “Hi Shaun Combs, how are you?” just to cause trouble.
By the way Eff, your new name has an interesting use:
“Eff you Eff. Eff you.”

Let’s play 20 questions. Does your nick name for Diddy rhyme with a slang term for a part of the human female anatomy?
