What An Incredible USC Win
October 15, 2005 – 4:49 pmFirst let me say I am not a USC fan. Very rarely have I ever rooted for USC in a football game. I did my undergraduate work at the University of Texas at Austin, and for the remainder of this season, I will be rooting very hard against USC.
But, wow, what an incredible win by USC over Notre Dame today. Yes, USC’s defense looks suspect. That USC offense, though, is downright amazing. If awards voters are being honest, today will mark the death of Matt Leinart’s Heisman campaign. The two big plays at the end of the game, Matt Leinart’s pass to Dwayne Jarrett and Leinart’s late touchdown run, may revive his hopes for the award, though. It should be clear, however, that Reggie Bush is the best player on the USC team, and maybe the best player in the country.
The announcers on the Trojan radio network were understandably worked up, and after the game ended, one of them said something that I am sure resonates with a lot of USC fans.
“If you don’t believe in destiny, you better.”
It really is hard to see how that game ended and think that USC is not on their way to a third straight national championship.
Oh, and Texas whooped Colorado 42-17. Hopefully we get a chance to test this whole USC destiny theory before the season is out. Hook ‘em!

Yes USC defense is suspect. Graduation and injuries at DB posiion is hurting them. But in the NotreDame game USC had 3 personal foul calls come againts them that never happend. Watch the game again. If not for those calls that all kept bog drives going Notre Dame would not have score on two of those situations.

Bush is incredible. USC has the best offense I have ever seen. They can literally score on any play from anywhere on the field. They have a Heisman winning quarterback and they can hand the ball to Bush on a 3rd and 12 and nobody thinks they should have passed it. Bush is that good.
Even still, does anyone else think that had Weis called more passing plays in the 4th quarter Notre Dame could have put the game away? I know you normally don’t want to get in a shootout with USC, but it looked to me like they could pass at will. Weis is obviously a great coach, but I’m second guessing him on that one.
Nevertheless, what a fun game to watch. That’s right up there with Miami-Ohio State Nat’l championship game.
