A Thinker From Randy Moss

November 16, 2005 – 7:24 pm

As you may have heard, the Philadelphia Eagles recently suspended their star wide receiver, Terrell Owens, for four games with the intention of deactivating him for the rest of the season after that. Owens had repeatedly disrespected the Eagles organization in public for the past several months, and the events finally came to a head.

Randy Moss is the star wide receiver of the Oakland Raiders. Like Owens, he has a history of showing overt disrespect for the organization that employs him and his teammates. This season is his first in Oakland, and ESPN recently got him to do an interview for the first time in a couple of months. They asked Randy about how he would feel if the Raiders tried to sign Owens next season. They also asked him to compare and contrast himself and Owens. Randy’s response:

“We have no similarities whatsoever. I’m a playmaker, he’s a playmaker…”

How do you not at least crack a smile if you’re the interviewer? I’m sure I would laugh out loud if someone said that to me. I know his statements are not indicative of those of your average football player, but if you are ever curious why football players are generally considered not to be the sharpest tools in the proverbial shed, this statement is a prime reason.
