The Deviled Eggs Were a Success
November 24, 2005 – 10:17 pmFor the third year in a row, a group of us here at Caltech got together for a pot-luck Thanksgiving dinner. The first year, I brought green bean casserole. The next year, I “helped” Ariele make roast vegetables. This year, I made deviled eggs.
I used the recipe in The Joy of Cooking. To the yolks, I added sour cream, dijon mustard, chives, shallots, curry powder, salt, pepper, and paprika. I think they turned out well; they seemed to be well received by those at the dinner who are considered fans of deviled eggs.
My only complaint: I added too much salt. I would reduce the salt, and I probably would add more chives. Regardless, the eggs were a success, as was everything else I tried at dinner. We had two turkeys. One was fried, the other roasted. We had mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, roasted vegetables, two types of stuffing, green bean casserole, and a whole host of other goodies. What a wonderful meal.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Yeah, they were a bit on the salty side, but still quite tasty.
I’ve got pictures from Thanksgiving up here.

Okay, I went back and fixed the original link so that it works. And your pictures turned out awesome, by the way.

They damn well better ‘ve turned out awesome, considering how much I paid for the camera. I’ve got some more pictures (just shots of the apt. and lab) that should be going up soonish.
