A Cooking Site Just For Me

November 29, 2005 – 10:50 pm

After my brief foray into the world of the culinary arts for Thanksgiving, I was fortunate enough to find a website seemingly built just for me: Cooking for Engineers. The tagline for the site?

Have an analytical mind? Like to cook? This is the site to read!

I have only briefly browsed through the site, and I can’t say I have found anything that is particularly different from other cooking sites/books/magazines. Granted, I haven’t looked at too many cooking site/books/magazines, so I could very well be missing something here.

One pretty cool portion of the site is the ingredients dictionary. Each ingredient has a brief description, and some are accompanied by a picture. For instance, you can see the difference between Japanese eggplants and Thai eggplants. Kind of cool.

  2. Yes I am a big fan of Cooking for Engineers. Their directory is very unique. Another one you might want to check out is ChefClub.net - there is a post on there that I have bookmarked where they have links for free and discounted subscriptions for all the big cooking magazines. It’s great for me, terrible for my mailman!
