The Full Monty

Ariele bought a copy of the movie The Full Monty on DVD a little while back, and we finally watched it a couple of nights ago. I had seen the movie once before, soon after it came out, which according to The Internet Movie Database was in 1997.

For those who don’t know, The Full Monty is about a group of jobless men who form a plan to make money by becoming male strippers. Because they don’t have the physiques typical of male strippers, they decide the shock value of getting completely nude is the only way they can draw a crowd.

One of the actors in the movie is Mark Addy, who plays the husband and father on the currently running CBS sitcom Still Standing. He plays the pudgy member of the group, and he has some of the funniest lines in the movie. At one point, he tries to explain why he is reluctant to participate in the group’s plan. I paraphrase:

Anti-wrinkle cream, they may have. Anti-fat-bastard cream, they definitely don’t.

I think it’s a very funny movie. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a comedy and doesn’t mind listening to some thick British accents.
