The Suns Win Big

February 16, 2006 – 11:11 pm

I was just perusing ESPN’s website, and I came across a link with an interesting description: “Suns build 47-point lead in blowout win.” Wow, I thought, who must the Suns have been playing? Atlanta? Toronto? I got to see the Rockets destroy the Clippers on Tuesday night, and now another big NBA blowout?

Well, guess what, the Suns had this dominant win against the Rockets. That’s professional basketball for you: one moment you’re destroying a second place team, the next you’re the one getting destroyed. But a 47 point lead? 47 points? The final score was 109-75, which obviously required a little bit of catching up to avoid a 47 point defeat.

When must the 47 point lead have occurred? Was there some point in the second half where the Suns had twice as many total points as the Rockets? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that.

Hey, at least the Rockets put on a good show for me when they came to town. I guess I can’t expect them to do that every night.
