Hilarious Rip of USC

March 11, 2006 – 5:11 pm

My best friend, Bobby, gave me a call today to see how things were going. Both of us being Texas alums, we are still glowing about Texas’ defeat of USC for the college football national championship this past season. We have both watched some heartbreaking Longhorns losses in our day, so this national championship will not fade from memory quickly.

During our gloating this afternoon, Bobby brought something up I hadn’t heard before. He told me about this site, onepeat.com, that pokes fun at the “dynasty” that is USC football. Specifically, one of the acts the organizers of onepeat.com took was to rent a billboard a very short distance from USC’s campus. On the bottom of the billboard, the text “LSU ‘03 USC ‘04 Texas ‘05″ appears, and across the main portion of the billboard, you see “Shouldn’t Dynasties Win More Than One?”

Hahaha! Priceless! I couldn’t have said it better myself. The billboard is poking fun at the fact that even though USC won the Associated Press national championship in ‘03, the (agreed upon by the college football community) BCS national championship went to LSU that year. So, many people were claiming that USC was going for their third straight national championship last season, but by one formal definition they were only going for their second. And they didn’t get that one. Because Texas beat them.

How freakin’ sweet is that?
