Review of My Day One Tournament Picks

March 16, 2006 – 10:16 pm

Sixteen games were played in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament today. My record: 12-4. Not too bad, eh?

My proudest pick was (12) Texas A&M over (5) Syracuse. For some reason I saw that coming a mile away, with Syracuse living on the edge for a week just hoping to make the tournament and Texas A&M having beaten Texas to make some noise shortly before that. That’s a good win for the Big 12.

The pick I’m most upset about is (11) Wisconsin-Milwaukee over (6) Oklahoma. I thought for sure Oklahoma would be able to handle that game. As good a win as Texas A&M’s was for the Big 12, the loss was as bad. The one time I root for the Sooners they let me down. Do you now see why I don’t like OU?

I have a couple of upset specials on my bracket for tomorrow. I have (11) Southern Illinois taking down (6) West Virginia, and I have (10) NC State taking down (7) California. We’ll see if my lucky streak with the upsets continues.

  2. I got 11 right and did not correctly pick the Syracuse loss. But of my bad picks only one was going farther, that being Syracuse going one more round before losing. So far I feel pretty good.
