Did He Really Just Say That?

Yes, I am talking about President Bush. He spoke at a naturalization ceremony today. Regarding the growing debate about immigration, he said

No one should play on people’s fears..

Wow….just wow. I don’t know what else to say. The man whose administration builds support for its foreign policy almost exclusively by playing on people’s fears has asked those involved in the immigration debate to do as he says, not as he does.

And relying on President Bush to allay our fear of terrorism has done what exactly? Oh, right, it’s gotten us to the point where enough radioactive material to make two dirty bombs has been smuggled across both of our borders.

This would be laughable if the consequences weren’t so grave.
